Now y’all know Big Freedia is known for makimg some things bounce, but now her recent attempt to make these section 8 vouchers shake has left her with a felony theft of government funds!
Apparently she’s been lying about her income to receive subsidized housing through Section 8 between 2010 and 2014.
She appeared in federal court Tuesday before a judge where she (although according to court documents she is referred to as his birth name Freddie Ross Jr. And a “he”) plead guilty.
So looking back, 2010-2014 was the timeframe she was on her rise to stardom as the Queen of Bounce music. This is when Bounce was introduced to a larger community outside of New Orleans on HBO’s “Treme” and then in 2013 she landed a deal for a reality show on Fuse.
Did y’all know she had a cameo in Beyonce’s “Formation” video?!
Anyways, she was charged with theft of over $1k in vouchers which of course values more than that. Because of her dishonesty she can be looking at up to 10 years behind bars and a whopping $250k fine AND face forfeiture of property equivalent to the dollar amount of vouchers he got.
Trial begins March 16th.
As of now no comment has been made from Freedia and her camp.
