Looks like Chipotle is in hot water once again but this time it isn’t about their food quality! Word on the street is Chipotle’s marketing executive has turned himself in to authorities forcocaine-possession charges.
According to the NY Daily News, 53-year-old Mark Crumpacker is facing seven counts of possession of a controlled substance after he and 18 other customers werecaught upin a cocaine ring indictment.
Apparently, multiple drug purchases took place during Chipotle’s infamous E.coli scandal which were between the dates of Jan. 29 and May 14. The indictment even accuses Crumpacker of making a purchaseon the same day a Massachusetts location temporarily shut down due to a Norovirus scare.
As of right now Crumpacker has been placed on administrative leave and all of his current duties have been allocated to other senior managers.
“We made this decision in order to remain focused on the operation of our business, and to allow Mark to focus on these personal matters,” Chipotle said in its statement.
He has since beenreleased on $4,500 cash bail which was probably chump change seeing how he received over $4.3 million last year. Heis expected back in court Sept. 8.
