“Easy, Breezy, Beautiful…CoverGirl” has been the phrase that has been the driving slogan for CoverGirl Cosmetics. Well it looks like with their newest addition, the cosmetic line may need to look for a more unisex phrase.
The 58-year-old brand broke their own barriers when they recruited their first ever CoverBoy, James Charles.
In a statement the company describes James as the perfect poster child for what it means to be a CoverGirl–or CoverBoy in this case.
“[CoverGirls] are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and redefining what it means to be beautiful… James Charles is no exception. One year ago, he boldly chose to launch his Instagram to the world, using transformative, dynamic makeup looks to showcase the many facets of his personality, serving as an inspiration to anyone who might have been afraid to do the same.”
James, 17, only has one year of makeup experience under his belt but plans to use his platform at CoverGirl to show the world that anybody can wear makeup and dreams really do come true but all you have to do is work for them.
“I truly hope that this shows that anyone and everyone can wear makeup and can do anything if you work hard.”
He told fans via Instagram that he is honored to be working with CoverGirl:
“I am so beyond excited and overwhelmed and happy and astonished and of course, SHOOK, to announce that I am the newest face of @covergirl. First ever male ambassador for the brand and I am so honored and excited to be working with such an iconic brand. I started my Instagram one year ago to inspire others and as an artistic outlet to challenge myself creatively.”
Make sure you keep an eye out for James on TV as he will be promoting CoverGirl’s “So Lashy” mascara!
