A Cleveland mother was recently convicted of aggravated murder after she was accused of hiring a hitman to kill her husband back in 2013.
According to CBS News, Uloma Walker-Curry could possibly receive life in prison without parole after she was accused of setting up her husband’s murder in order to collect $100,000 in insurance money.
However, it turns out that Walker-Curry’s plan was not thought out too well because it was later learned that her husband’s ex-wife was still listed as the beneficiary on his insurance policy.
Walker-Curry married William Walker back in July 2013, and four months later arranged his murder in order to collect his insurance money. She reportedly was “nearing financial ruin after running up tens of thousands of dollars in debt.”
She consulted in her 17-year-old daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend to find someone to kill her husband.
Walker-Curry gave her daughter’s boyfriend, Chad Padgett, a $1,000 down payment to carry out the plan. Padgett turned to his cousin Chris Hein, who failed to get the job done. So Hein enlisted Ryan Dorty, to carry out the murder.
Walker-Curry’s daughter, Padgett, Hein and Dorty all testified against her in court and Padgett was given 28 years to life, Hein received 18 years to life and Dorty was give 23 years to life. Walker Curry’s daughter was not charged as an adult but will spend a month in a juvenile detention center.
The day that Walker-Curry surrendered to police, she reportedly wrote a confession where she claims she had her husband killed because he was abusive towards her.
No witnesses were called to testify that Walker had been abusive towards his wife.
Walker-Curry’s trial began last month, where she reportedly did not take the stand in her own defense; she is expected to be sentenced on August 8th.
