“4:44 Tour” Becomes Jay-Z’s Highest Grossing Solo Tour After Raking In $48.7 Million—Despite Reports of Low Ticket Sales!

Last year, #JayZ was accused of lying about ticket sales for his #444Tour. Back in November, #DigitalMusicNews reported that tickets for his show in Anaheim were as low as $6 and pointed out that the rapper had cancelled a show in Fresno was a sign that the tour was flailing.

Jay’s legal team clapped back with facts that supported the tour actually doing just fine. According to Billboard, “by pricing tickets closer to actual market value, JAY-Z and Live Nation are capturing more revenue and creating little room for brokers to mark up the best seats.” In the long run, this turned out to be a great business decision for the rapper, because the tour earned $48.7 million with just 32 shows over the course of two months.

Numbers don’t lie—426,441 tickets were sold which translated to $44.7 million plus another $4 million in VIP and platinum tickets. Per show, the rapper basically earned a whopping $1.5 million! It turns out that the “444 Tour” was actually his highest grossing solo tour to date.

Billboard:

“That’s up substantially from his other two solo treks — the 2013-2014 Magna Carta Tour reported 42 shows to Billboard Boxscore with an attendance of 436,939 and $37.4 in ticket sales. JAY’s 2009-2010 Blueprint 3 Tour grossed $33.1 million with 439,540 tickets sold for 39 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore.
