<p>According to the NY Daily News, iron worker, Peter Zepf, and other workers were assembling a &#8220;vegetative green roof&#8221; for the Jay Z&#8217;s famed Barclays Center, when steel beams crushed him to death.</p>
<p>The beams, which are known as joints, were being moved from a truck to a hoist when the load was unhooked when it wasn&#8217;t supposed to, causing four of the beams to come down and crush him.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: inherit;">“My signal man was crushed,” said a fellow construction worker who declined to give his name. “The load was top heavy, the truck driver unhooked it without being told,and it toppled right on top of him. I checked his pulse: he was there for half a second, and then he was gone.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: inherit;">The incident took place on Atlantic Ave. side of the arena around 1 p.m. and Zepf was dead almost immediately after. The incident is still under investigation by the Department of Buildings and NYPD but no violations have been brought up as of yet.That is a truly horrible way to die, our condolences go out to his family.</span></p>
