Who remembers being in high school dreading having to spend Valentine’s Day in class when you knew dam well ain’t have a Valentine? It was either the couples who were overly affectionate or the girls who bought gifts for themselves pretending she got it from a bae… either way it sucks when you’re single. Well Utah high school senior, Hayden Godfrey felt that every single female at his school deserves a Valentine and decided to do something special for all 800 plus of them!
According to ABC News, Godfrey decided to purchase 900 carnations in order to hand them out to the females at Sky View High School. He reportedly saved up nearly all of his funds for over a year-and-a-half from working at McDonalds as a cook and at a Mexican restaurant as a dishwasher. Wow, now that’s dedication!
The 17-year-old took to his Facebook to share his experience as it was indeed a success for him. “So I did a thing today,” Said Godfrey. “Today I passed out 900 carnations, one to every girl at SVHS and it was totally worth it. I don’t think anything can compare to seeing every girl in your life holding a flower as they walk through the halls.”
Godfrey bought all the flowers from a wholesale store online three weeks in advance to prepare and got 20 people, including his Assistant Principal, Curt Hanks to help him deliver his flowers successfully on Thursday. His plan was to interrupt the last class session of the day in every classroom in order to pass out each flower one by one!
Ironically enough Godfrey has his own valentine, his girlfriend Lilyan Sharp, 18 who also attends the same high school. She applauded his decision to give every girl out their school each a flower saying that every girl walked out of class with a “giant smile on their face.”
Of course his main girl got something extra as a gift…concert tickets to see “A Great Big World” in Salt Lake City on March 28. How cute is that!
