We are all mourning the loss of such a supreme musical being who was formally known as Prince. He is perhaps most renown for his production, Purple Rain, and since his introduction to superstardom, Prince has remained a central part of pop culture. The entertainer has always been ahead of his time and a bulk of his songs seemed to either explore sexuality or self-awareness. This is more than likely the reason why his music was so widely received– just like himself, Prince was able to give us just enough to think. However, at the end of the day, his job was to help us escape within the realm of music.
Many artists such as Beyoncé, Outkast, Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell and Janelle Monae (among countless others) have been transfixed by Prince. No one had his sound and no one could work a crowd like he could, so no wonder why he was studied by so many great artists! Check out some of Prince’s most iconic videos and tell us whether or not you recognize some hidden gems from any current artists!
1.) Diamonds and Pearls
Notice how the beginning resembles the end of Beyoncé’s “Yoncé” video?
2.) Little Red Corvette
3.) Purple Rain
The one and only Patti LaBelle introduced this performance. Even the divas knew!
4.) The Beautiful Ones
Mariah Carey did a cover to this song along with Dru Hill back in 1997!
5.) Darling Nikki

I wonder what freak he was talking about in this song…
6.) 1999
The time of this song was, “Oh, the world is gonna end soon. NBD.”
7.) Let’s Go Crazy

What a way to open up your first movie, right? Let’s Go Crazy is the song playing at the very beginning of Purple Rain. The lyrics somehow make me feel that Prince is at peace right now.
Rest in paradise, Price! You already know that you are missed!
