TV comedy starring Jospeh Fiennes as Michael Jackson won’t see the light of day because Sky Arts has decided to cut the program after receiving a lot of backlash on social media.
Michael’s daughter, Paris Jackson, let it be known earlier this week that she felt some type of way after watching the trailer.
“I’m so incredibly offended by it, as I’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit. It angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother Liz as well.”
The network has since released a statement, saying it “never intended to cause any offense”, and promised not to show the episode.
“We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon, a 30min episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series,” Sky Arts tweeted on Friday.
“This decision was taken in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family,” it added.
“We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events & never intended to cause any offense.”
