Rape Victim Files Lawsuit Against Baylor University– Claims Football Players Are Responsible For 52 Sexual Assaults In 4 Years

An ex Baylor University student may have just revealed some huge skeletons in her school’s closet after she claims that there has been over 50 rapes by football players over the last four years.

The woman, only identified as Elizabeth Doe, filed a lawsuit against the University today after she also alleged that she was raped by two football players back in 2013.

She alleges that when she initially complained to school officials, her words went ignored and the players were still allowed to stay on the team. Apparently the school hadn’t began investigating her alleged rape until 2015 and thats when one player was eventually expelled and the other transferred schools.

The suit also claims that the school has a “culture of sexual violence,” detailing that at least 52 other rapes with other football players and women have taken place there. She doesn’t go into too much detail in the suit but does state that some of the assaults were recorded and shared by the players.

via LA Times:

The lawsuit alleges the football program operated under a “show’em a good time” policy that “used sex to sell” Baylor to high school recruits.

The woman was a member of a campus group called the Baylor Bruins that would host prospective athletes during visits. The lawsuit alleges Baylor encouraged making Baylor Bruins available for sex with recruits, as well as taking recruits to strip clubs, implied promises of sex and using alcohol and drugs in the recruiting process.

Baylor, which is the country’s largest Baptist university, already has at least five lawsuits against it from women who claim that the school had failed to protect them or even take their allegations seriously after they were assaulted.

To make matters worse Elizabeth Doe’s claim of 52 different rapes is a far number from the 17 initial reports of rape and other physical attacks involving 19 players since 2011.

University President David E. Garland has since made a statement saying that the school is working harder to fix safety issues on campus.

“Baylor University has taken unprecedented actions that have been well-documented in response to the issue of past and alleged sexual assaults involving our campus community,” Garland said. “We have made great progress in implementing 105 recommendations to strengthen the safety and security of all students and restore faith in the university.”
