We were loving Laverne Cox’s excitement after finally meeting her idol, Beyonce, at this year’s Grammys! Their meet and greet was a little late though, according to Laverne!
She tells People that along with Viola Davis, and Kerry Washington, she had the opportunity to star in Bey’s Lemonade visual album!
Who would have been here for that?! Apparently they were supposed to appear in “Sorry” before Serena landed the role.
“Actually, Miss Tina [Lawson] contacted me about their initial concept of ‘Sorry’ from Lemonade,” Cox told People. “They wanted to have all these powerful, empowered black women in the video and they wanted to have me and Viola [Davis] and Kerry [Washington].”
So why didn’t she take the job? She says she couldn’t fit in her schedule! She had already committed her time working on the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
“I was shooting Rocky Horror Picture Show at the time and they were like, ‘Can you get the EP to shoot something and send it to us?’ and there was just no time to do it,” she says. “The concept changed. And could you imagine anyone else? I mean, there was Serena Williams like giving us full life.”
