Just when you thought you couldn’t love #KendrickLamar any more than you currently do, he and his team drop a bombshell of an announcement! Two weeks ago, Kendrick hinted that a Black Panther soundtrack was coming in his “Lovely” video, but now it’s been confirmed that this is really happening! According to reports, he was hand selected by the movie’s director Ryan Coogler.
A press release from TDE states that Lamar and partner Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith “will collaborate with Coogler directly in the creation of music specific to the needs of the film.” This is the first time that the rapper will write, produce, perform and curate for a major motion picture so he’s pretty much on his #Pharrell x #DespicableMe ish!
“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture,” Lamar said in a statement. “I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”
All other details including the track listing have yet to be revealed, but I honestly don’t think my edges could take anymore right now.
