The Exonerated Five’s Korey Wise Bought A Luxury Condo That Overlooks Central Park

Talk about a full circle moment for this king! The #Exonerated5’s #KoreyWise recently bought a luxury condo in #Harlem that overlooks #CentralPark, the same place where his tragic story turned triumph began.

For the past 30 years, New York City’s Central Park served as the origin for the injustice that Korey, Raymond Santana, Antron McCray and Kevin Richardson experienced at the hands of a corrupt system. Formerly known as the #CentralPark5, these men were wrongfully convicted as children of a rape they were proven to have not committed. The men have receive much praise for their heroism, especially since the release of #Netflix’s #WhenTheySeeUs.

Today, Korey is a successful activist and public speaker who has worked extensively with the nonprofit the Innocence Project, and was awarded the Man of Vision Award in March from the National Action Network, @theroot reports.

And his hard work has paid off. Korey, who has never left his native Harlem, is now the owner of a $925,000 luxury condo that overlooks Central Park, according to the @nypost. The 803-square-foot condo was listed for $960,000, and includes a washer/dryer, oversized windows and an open kitchen.

The unit also has hardwood floors, a marble bathroom with porcelain flooring, and central heat and air–such a stark contrast from the jail cell he had to live in for 14 years of his life due to the wrongful conviction.

The listing broker was David Benichou, of New York. Wise’s broker, Warburg’s Kemdi Anosike, declined to comment on the sale.

This past weekend, Korey and the Exonerated Five turned up with “When They See Us” Director Ava DuVernay at Essence Fest and were seen on her Instagram story getting their whole lives to Bell Biv DeVoe and Missy Elliot’s performances.

It’s so great to see these men overcome so much adversity and be able to celebrate their lives as free men. We applaud Korey’s success and hope he receives the peace he deserves in his new home.
