FaceApp Raises Security Concerns As The App Allegedly Gives Russians Access To Your Identity & Ownership Of Your Photos

Whew chillaayy! Let me find out this app may be a whole scam! The FaceApp app has had all of our timelines looking like Life Alert lately, with everyone trying to see what their ‘aged’ selves look like.

There are now reports that claim that the digital app created in 2017 at Wireless Lab in St. Petersburg Russia, gives the developers—and possibly even hackers—access to your personal information.

The app’s terms and conditions allegedly include that they have the right to modify, reproduce, and publish the images you create through their app.

The New York Post reports that this means “They can also use your real name, your username or “any likeness provided” in any format without notifying, much less paying, you. They can retain that material as long as they want, even after you delete the app, and you won’t be able to stop them. Even those who set their Apple iOS photo permissions to “never,” as Tech Crunch points out, are not protected against the terms.”

Long story short Roommates, it’s safe to say we should probably all be more careful with these apps that we give our biometric data to.

In the meantime, check out what your favorite ‘Zaddies’ may look like as they age.
