Mercedes-Benz Reveals Their New Car Inspired By The Movie ‘Avatar’

Roommates, Mercedes-Benz is really moving different this year! At CES in Las Vegas, Mercedes unveiled their new concept car called the Mercedes-Benz ‘Vision AVTR’ that is reportedly inspired by the movie ‘Avatar.’

Business Insider reports that the actual director of the film, James Cameron, helped design the car.  He said: “I see a future where we continue to co-evolve with our technology… we will merge, we will absorb it and it will become such a natural part of our lives.”

See the video below:

Along with the impressive, sleek design, apparently The Vision AVTR can also move both sideways and diagonally. The biggest shocker is that the car actually doesn’t come equipped with a steering wheel. Instead, drivers will operate the car through an oval-shaped controller in the center console. Apparently, when you place your hand on the control unit “the interior comes to life and the vehicle recognizes the driver by his or her heartbeat and breathing.”

As far as the rest of the design, the back is covered with 33 moveable scales. Mercedes calls them “bionic flaps,” and claims their function is to be able to communicate with the driver inside the car. In a press statement, Mercedes said: “They can communicate with the driver and through the driver with their outside world through naturally flowing movements in subtle gestures,” The grand reveal was something like the reveal of the iPhone 11 but with way more showmanship if you can believe it!

This car is really living in the future!
