Netflix Taps Africa As New Hub For Entertainment Content

Netflix is expanding their international content, and Africa is at the top of their list for the new entertainment hub.
For the last week, the powers-that-be have traveled to Africa recruiting local creators and also positioning Africa as a new content hub for entertainment.
The Head of African Originals Dorothy Ghettuba has spearheaded the attempt to create a fresh initiative that brings a global attraction to the continent.
Ghettuba told Variety,

“It’s been an exciting week to crisscross the continent and be reaffirmed that we really have stories to tell.
Nigeria, South Africa, and also Kenya are all countries that the online streaming company is interested in.
“We know that Africa is a wide region…but we really have to be very deliberate in our approach.”
She continued,
“We are trying to find the best way to work, and we are learning along the way. Can we do better? Can we better? That’s really the objective for our company, and we are learning from our partners (and) taking it one step at a time.”
In addition to positioning Africa as an international hub for entertainment, Netflix also debuted its first African original series, “Queen Sono,” which debuted last week.
According to Netflix, the series is about a South African spy, Queen Sono, “who finds herself in a nefarious web of business and politics as she seeks to uncover the truth behind her mother’s death.”
Roomies, this is something we can all plan to look forward to.
