It looks like lawyer and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is on the feds’ radar after they made a visit to his New York City home and office on Wednesday.
According to the Associated Press, agents raided both of his properties and seized computers and cellphones as a part of the Justice Department’s investigation into the business dealings of Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. The AP notes that Giuliani has been under examination for years for his ties to Ukraine.
Those familiar with the search said that the feds went to his home on Madison Avenue and his office on Park Avenue. The warrants that were used reportedly represent prosecutors’ belief that they have probable cause that Giuliani committed a federal crime.
The full details behind the investigation are unclear at the moment, but law enforcement officials have told AP that a least some of the investigation deals with Giuliani’s involvement with Ukraine. His lawyer said in a statement, “Mr. Giuliani respects the law, and he can demonstrate that his conduct as a lawyer and a citizen was absolutely legal and ethical.”
CNN notes that the search that was conducted on Wednesday advanced a criminal investigation by federal prosecutors that has been in the works for more than two years. However, he hasn’t been charged and has denied wrongdoing.
Giuliani’s attorney said that the warrant described a “possible violation of foreign lobbying laws and that it sought communications between Giuliani and people including a former columnist for The Hill, John Solomon.”

This isn’t the first time Giuliani has been faced with legal issues. As we previously reported, back in February, the NAACP filed a lawsuit against Trump, Giuliani, and the Proud Boys for the riots that took place at the U.S. Capitol earlier this year. Prior to that, Dominion Voting Systems filed a lawsuit against Giuliani for defamation.
