<p data-pm-slice="0 0 []">Roommates, one of the worst feelings is having an opportunity snatched away, while doing everything you can to maximize the blessing! This appears to be the case for 76-year-old Gwen Levi. Gwen was granted house arrest last June after serving 16 years of her 24-year sentence in prison. While on release, she attended a computer class and missed a few calls from her probation officials. Now, Gwen is awaiting transfer to a federal facility from a Washington D.C. jail, according to her Attorney Sapna Mirchandani.</p>
<p>“I feel like I was attempting to do all the right things,” Gwen said in a statement through her lawyer, <a href="https://blavity.com/76-year-old-woman-on-probation-sent-back-to-prison-after-missing-calls-while-in-a-computer-class?category1=news&;category2=politics">according to Blavity</a>. &#8220;Breaking rules is not who I am. I tried to explain what happened, and to tell the truth. At no time did I think I wasn’t supposed to go to that class.&#8221;</p>
<p>Gwen was reportedly improving her computer-processing skills at a class in Baltimore&#8217;s Inner Harbor. Probation officials took note that Gwen wasn&#8217;t at home at 10:51 a.m. on June 12, 2021. She did not respond to calls for a few hours. Her ankle monitor revealed that she was later at home at 1:17 p.m. the same day. Gwen&#8217;s time outside the home was reportedly deemed an &#8220;escape&#8221; according to the report submitted by the Bureau of Prisons.</p>
<p>Attorney Sapna Mirchandani told <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/inmates-pandemic-biden-trump-policy/2021/06/25/e89aa28e-d376-11eb-baed-4abcfa380a17_story.html">The Washington Post</a> that Gwen is in a Washington D.C. jail waiting to be transferred to a federal facility .</p>
<p>“There’s no question she was in class,” Spana said. “As I was told because she could have been robbing a bank, they’re going to treat her as if she was robbing a bank.”</p>
<p>Gwen, who is serving time for drug conspiracy, expressed feeling &#8220;devastated&#8221; in her statement. Blavity reports that she pled guilty on April 19, 2005 and was sentenced on Oct. 6, 2006. She served nearly two decades &#8220;in different facilities in Maryland, Texas, and Alabama.&#8221;</p>
<p>She was one among 4,500 federal inmates nationwide who were granted early release to help curb the <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/u-s-prisoners-will-be-quarantined-in-their-cells-for-next-14-days-to-combat-coronavirus-spread/">spread of COVID-19</a> in prison. After receiving home confinement with supervision by probation officials, she moved to Baltimore to live with her 94-year-old mother.</p>
<p>According to The Washington Post, Gwen had been filling her time with productive activities, including volunteering with prisoner advocacy organizations and bonding with her sons and grandsons.</p>
<p>&#8220;I apologize to my mother and my family for what this is doing to them,&#8221; Gwen also shared in her statement.</p>
