A New Siri Shortcut Will Automatically Start To Record Your Police Interaction If You Say You’re Being Pulled Over

#Roommates, during this current climate of heightened hostility and anxiety involving the police, a new Siri shortcut couldn’t come at a better time. According to reports, Apple iPhone users have a shortcut that allows Siri to automatically record their encounter with police if they tell her they’re being pulled over.

@CNN reports, a newly discovered shortcut is gaining in popularity and hopefully can give many a sense of security during encounters with the police. By simply saying, “Hey Siri, I’m getting pulled over,” an iPhone shortcut—which must first be installed—will pause any music that you’re playing, turn down the brightness of your phone, turn on the “Do Not Disturb” mode to block any incoming calls, open up your front-facing camera and then start a video recording.

That’s not all, a message will also be sent to a pre-designated contact to let them know that you’re being pulled over, as well as your current location. Once the recording ends, a copy of the video is sent to your pre-designated contact and gives you the option to send it to your iCloud or Dropbox.

The “Police” shortcut was initially created back in 2018 by Redditor Robert Petersen, but it has just been updated and is now known as the “I’m being pulled over” shortcut.

“I just wanted a way for anyone to have proof of their version of events in the unlikely scenario that something unexpected happens during a police interaction,” Petersen previously told local media outlets last year. “And if 1 in 10,000 people find my shortcut useful at all I’d be glad.”
