Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez has filed a lawsuit against the New England Patriots and the NFL after finding out Aaron was diagnosed with a head injury called CTE, also known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
According to TMZ, Shayanna believes Aaron’s CTE diagnosis is what ultimately made him commit suicide during his incarceration. The suit claims: “Aaron had stage 3 CTE usually seen in players with a median age of death of 67 years.”
Shayanna reportedly also claims that the NFL and the Patriots were aware of the link between suicidal impulses and CTE but never shared that information with Aaron.
The suit was filed on behalf of Shayanna and their daughter and they are seeking “redress for the loss of parental consortium she has experienced based on the negligent conduct of Defendants that deprived her of the companionship and society of her father, Aaron Hernandez.”
