<p>The president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, issued a statement last night via Twitter about the lack of people of color nominated in this years Oscars. ;</p>
<p>The controversy over the lack of diversity has caused people like Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith to publicly declare that they were going to &#8220;boycott&#8221; the awards this year.  ;Issacs was the first black woman appointed as president of the Academy, so there most likely was a feeling of obligation to speak out on the matter.  ;In her lengthy statement, she made sure to let us know that there must be a change. ;</p>
<p>She went on to say &#8221; I am both heartbroken and frustrated about the lack of inclusion. This is a difficult but important conversation. And it&#8217;s time for big changes.&#8221;</p>
