There is no doubt that Amanda Gorman was one of the many highlights of this year’s inauguration as she performed her original poem before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn into office. However, she was already a big deal before the inauguration and her star had only risen after the historic day.
As you can imagine, after making history as the youngest inaugural poet, Amanda has had plenty of brand deals come her way. However, there have been plenty of deals that she has turned down.
Amanda covers the latest issue of Vogue Magazine and in her interview with the publication, she talked about various things including the image she has maintained, the impact of her historic performances, and much more. In the article, it is noted that she estimated that shes recently turned down $17 million in offers.
While speaking about a huge offer from one brand, Amanda said, “I didnt really look at the details because if you see something and it says a million dollars, youre going to rationalize why that makes sense.”
She continued to say, “I have to be conscious of taking commissions that speak to me.”
Amanda, who signed with IMG Models earlier this year, also shared that she is now the first poet to grace the cover of Vogue and said, “I am eternally grateful & do not expect to be the lastfor what is poetry if not beauty? What a joy to do this cover while wearing a piece designed by groundbreaking Black designer@virgilablohthat honors my heritage. It was a dream to be photographed by the indomitable@annieleibovitz& styled by@gabriellak_j who literally would carry me on her back & forth between sets. Wow, my hands are shaking with love.”
