Roommates, its that time of year again! Although this years BET Awards ceremony will be completely different than in years past due to the coronavirus outbreakthere still has to be a host and Amanda Seales has been chosen for the job.
Fresh off her very brief stint as a co-host on the daytime talk show The Real, Amanda Seales has officially been announced as the host for the 2020 BET Awardswhich will be held virtually this year in an effort to follow with social distancing guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Following the announcement of Amanda Seales as host, BET released a statement about what fans can expect to see from this years show:
BET was created to stand at the forefront of Black culture.We have made strides over the past two decades to create a space where Black creativity, culture, and art have the opportunity to get the celebration it deserves in a world where it is systematically muted. This year were looking forward to continuing the tradition of providing fans with those special, not to be missed moments of enrichment, entertainment, empowerment and also using our platform to create change for our community.
Drake leads the BET Awards with six nominations, including one for Video of the Year. Other nominees include Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Rich, who each garnered five nominationswhile Beyonc,Nicki Minaj,Chris Brown,Lizzo, andDaBaby round out the other nominees.
Performers at this years show include: Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Chloe X Halle, Summer Walker, Usher, Lil Wayne and John Legend. The BET Awards, which will also premiere on CBS, will air Sunday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
