Back in August, there was a casting call for a new show that would be a spin-off of the hit show Empire! According to Deadline, the show has been green-lighted by 20th Century Fox and is set to begin production as soon as Empire wraps up this season in Chicago.
They report, “The new Star series is written and executive-produced by Lee Daniels and cowritten/executive produced by Tom Donaghy, Star is set in Atlanta and centers on three girls – one White, one Black and one half White/Half Black — who are coming together to form a band and their rise to the top. It will center around the choices in which these aspiring artists are faced with as they work hard to acheive their dreams of stardom.”
There was a casting call earlier this year that gave a description of the characters and admittedly, I was surprised to see that one of them was going to be transgender! Her name is Cotton and she’s described as, “a half African-American and half Latina transgender woman with a stunning look” and “She has an especially keen eye for fashion.”
As reported by transgender model Amiyah Scott has reportedly landed the role and I think it’s perfect! She’s so beautiful. We all caught wind that she’d be holding a peach as one of the cast members of Real Housewives of Atlanta, but it looks like she’ll be holding a microphone instead!
By way of TMZ, “Amiyah didn’t make the ‘RHOA’ cut, but we’re told all the transgender ‘Housewife’ buzz got her a call from “Empire” creator Lee Daniels in late August asking to read for his new show.” This will be Amiyah’s first big acting gig and she’s preparing with acting coaches. I’m sure she will do great! Plus, she can give us Latina with her versatile looks.
Perhaps, next on her list of roles to conquer is a black Little Mermaid!
