<p>While many of us grew up listening to Anita Baker, the <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/tsr-what-ifz-these-celebrities-starred-in-a-show-together/">legendary singer</a> asked fans to stop streaming and buying her music.</p>
<p>While responding to a fan on <a href="https://twitter.com/IAMANITABAKER?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">Twitter</a>, Baker said, “Hello Sweetheart<br />
Thank You 4 Sending Me, Your Love. But, let’s not Advertise *Spotify Streaming, which is, a Publicly Traded Company, with a 50 Million$ Valuation… but doesnt pay Artists/Creators what their Worth.”</p>
<p>She also went on to say that she has outlived her artist contracts, but has yet to receive the masters that she alleges legally belong to her. “Miraculously&#8230; i have out-lived *ALL, of my Artists Contracts They no longer &#8220;Own,&#8221; my Name &; Likeness. And, by Law&#8230;30 yr old Mstrs are 2b Returned, 2 Me.&#8221; Anita continued, &#8220;Unfortunately, They&#8217;re gonna make me Fight 4 it. I&#8217;m Prepared. 2 do that. Please Dont advertise/buy them. ABXO&#8221;</p>
<p>Anita also discussed how much money an artist makes. She tweeted,</p>
<p><em>”recordings Streamed &; Sold are *Inferior &; Missing Original Instrumentation. Recording Speeds have been &#8216;Sped Up&#8217; Bootleg/Bogus &#8216;Vinyls&#8217; R Not from Original Analog Mstrs. But, from Re-Processed (no Mid- Range frequencies) Digital Copies. Fans Deserve Better,&#8221; </em>she said.</p>
<p>Anita ended her message with, &#8220;<em>&#8220;Love, HugZ &; Convo, Always Welcome on Our TL&#8230; I Am Just, No longer Free Advertising, for the [music] Th[ie]ves in The Temple,&#8221; </em>she tweeted.</p>
<p>Anita also said, &#8220;If NOthing else comes of this, right Here?!#$% Ask Your Streaming Service, to help Artists Survive.&#8221;</p>
<p>One person tweeted, &#8220;Anita Baker’s request to not stream her music makes me think about how so much of our consumption of &; access to art is digital now. We hardly possess physical copies anymore if the Internet overlords decided to pull the plug tomorrow.&#8221;</p>
<p>As you know Anita Baker retired in 2017 and held a farewell concert in 2018. She&#8217;s also the recipient of 8 Grammy Awards.</p>
