A Colorado rape victim is trying to come to terms on how her rape victim was spared jail time. She said her life has been ‘ruined’ by the assault and she has every right to be upset!
According to Daily Mail, Austin Wilkerson, 22, was convicted of sexually assaulting a student at University of Colorado Boulder student in May this year.
Austin admitted to sexually assaulting the woman and was facing between four and
12 years in prison but the judge thought otherwise.
The Daily Camera newspaper reported that Judge Patrick Butler had went back and forth on whether to send Austin to jail asking, ‘Do I put him in prison? I don’t know that there is any great result for anybody.
‘Mr Wilkerson deserves to be punished, but I think we all need to find out whether he truly can or cannot be rehabilitated.’
In the end the judge decided that Austin will serve two years of ‘work release’ and 20 years to life on probation.
