The dynamic duo is officially back together! As if you needed another reason to anticipate the upcoming Coming To America sequel, it has just been announced that former nighttime talk show host Arsenio Hall is set to reprise his role as Semi in the iconic film.
Coming To America is widely regarded as one of the funniest films of all-time, with a collection of quotable lines that are still frequented used today. So, it was no surprise that when the sequel was announced, 31 years after the 1988 original, fans were beyond excited.
According to @Deadline, there is one more reason to mark the film’s release date on your calendar—and it’s thanks to Arsenio Hall. Rumors have been swirling for months that he would be returning to the role that made him famous, and now it’s a done deal.
In Coming To America 2, Prince Akeem (played by Eddie Murphy) learns he has a long-lost son and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.
Eddie Murphy is producing the film with Kevin Misher, while Blackish creator Kenya Barris will write the screenplay and serve as an executive producer. The Craig Brewer-directed film is scheduled for a December 2020 release.
