<p>Roommates,<a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/photo-mugshot-of-ex-officer-derek-chauvin-who-is-charged-with-the-death-of-george-floyd-released/"> Derek Chauvin</a>’s bail has officially been set at $500,000. According to new documents filed by the 4th Judiciary Court of Minnesota, Derek Chauvin remains in police custody on a third-degree murder charge related to the death of George Floyd.</p>
<p>Following his arrest and being <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/05/30/george-floyd-bail-for-ex-cop-derek-chauvin-set-at-500k/">officially charged</a> with third-degree murder due to his involvement in the death of 46-year-old George Floyd, Derek Chauvin’s bail has now been set at $500,000. This is information comes from a new criminal complaint filed in Minnesota’s District Court. As of right now, there are no conditions set for his release, according to the document—and there is not current indication that Chauvin is out on bail. However, he could be released on bond if he comes up with $500,000 in collateral.</p>

<p>As we previously reported, Derek Chauvin was arrested earlier this week and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, according to Hennepin County officials in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before his arrest, Chauvin (along with three other local police officers) was fired after video footage showed him choking George Floyd to death after putting his knee to his neck.</p>
<p>George Floyd was accused of an alleged forgery at a Minneapolis corner store and was unarmed when police officers handcuffed him, eventually pinning him to the ground. Chauvin kept his knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes. George Floyd was declared dead not long after paramedics took him to the hospital.</p>
<p>Derek Chauvin had 18 prior complaints filed against him with the Minneapolis Police Department’s Internal Affairs, according to the police department. His wife has also reportedly filed for divorce following his arrest.</p>
