Rihanna is like the gift that keeps on giving, especially in the fashion industry. As many of you know, Rihanna was the firstBlack woman to becomeanambassador forChristian Dior but now she’s being crowned as thefirst brand ambassador to design a project for the luxury brand company because she’s coming out with her very own Dior shades!
As part of her ambassadorship, Riri has been given the opportunity toteam up with CDto introduce a new ‘futuristic’ sunglassesline which is simply being named “Rihanna”.
According to WWD, Rihanna got her inspiration for the sunglasses La Forge a character from Star Trek.Shestates, “Ive always been obsessed with his eyewear, and when I got toDior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just cametogether.”
The flat topstyle sunglasses willcome in a variation of cute colors and a pricey price tag. For instance, the pink, silver, blue,green, and red shades all have aprice point of $840. While her24k gold plated glasses will sell at a whopping$1950!!!
Diors eyewear designer Mathieu Jamin also commented on the Rihanna collaboration. “She chose all the materials,” Jamin said to WWD. “We had a lot of different samples with different effect of metals. She chose all the lenses and took time to match all the colors together to see if it was right on her face. It was really important to her.” This will also be Jamin first time taking on a project with a celebrity.
