Beard Zaddies Beware! The CDC Warns About The Dangers About Facial Hair As Coronavirus Spreads

We have bad news for beard zaddies and pretty much anyone else with significant facial hair.

In order to protect yourself during the #coronavirus outbreak, the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention suggests a clean-shaven face may be the best way to go.

The CDC said facial hair can interfere when trying to use a respirator/face mask properly. A graphic released by the CDC shows which facial hair styles will conflict with potentially life-saving respirators as the U.S. braces for the quickly spreading deadly virus, according to the New York Post.

The CDC says people might have to lose their beards because it could prevent respirators from making a seal on the face. And while a clean-shaven face seems ideal, stubble could cause trouble, the agency warned.

Standard beards and chops are also risky, as the hair could come in contact with a respirator’s exhalation valve, reducing their effectiveness, according to the CDC’s graphic.

Face masks and respirators are being used worldwide to help prevent the spread of the coronavrius. The virus has reached nearly every continent in the world, with more than 80,000 cases confirmed globally and at least 2,600 deaths reported.
