Beloved Children’s Television Show ‘Arthur’ Is Ending After 25 Seasons

I dont think theres an Arthur meme that can show how sad I am that ‘Arthur’ is ending!

‘Arthur’ is the longest-running kids animated series on TV and after 25 seasons, Buster and all em are finally going to say goodbye. The show is slated to air its final season in early 2022.

“Arthur is the longest-running kids animated series in history and is known for teaching kindness, empathy and inclusion through many groundbreaking moments to generations of viewers,” said the show’s executive producer, Carol Greenwald, in a statement, NPR reports.

But not to worry. Youll still be able to share the magic of Arthur with the kids in your life as Greenwald said the show will continue to be available on PBS KIDS for years to come.

If you didnt grow up watching Arthur, youre missing out. The show is about an 8-year-old aardvark, as he navigated life among family, friends and school.

The show featured different characters who represented a variety of cultures, classes and backgrounds.

The show also touched on topics that pushed the boundaries for kids shows. In recent years, the show was both praised and caught heat for a 2019 episode showing a same-sex wedding.

News about the shows end started floating around a few weeks ago when one of the writers for the show, Kathy Waugh, revealed that the show was no longer in production and the final episode was completed some years ago.

“I think Arthur should come back,” Waugh said. “I know I’m not alone in thinking they made a mistake.”

But Greenwald did give fans some hope. Her statement also said, “producer GBH and PBS KIDS are continuing to work together on additional Arthur content, sharing the lessons of Arthur and his friends in new ways.”
