It looks like Beyonce isn’t the only one in her family who will be getting a cute little coin at the box office.

A new report via Variety reveals that her dad, Mathew Knowles, has secured himself a deal with Say Unkel Entertainment to turn his 2017 memoir, ‘Racism from the Eyes of a Child,’ into a feature film and TV series.

Unkel has finalized a film script based on the book, which centers around Knowles’ troubling childhood in the ’60s amid a surge of civil rights race riots in Alabama.

In the book, Knowles delved deep into his past by recounting his early encounters with racism. He also touches on the complexities of colorism people faced within the black community.

Additionally, the 71-year-old rooted his civil rights activism deeply in his own personal experiences, which he candidly shared in his memoir.

Knowles detailed his experiences of physical attacks during many peaceful riots, and how he was one of only six Black students in a predominantly white school he attended.

Knowles credits his parents, Martin Luther King Jr., Ralph Abernathy, and Albert Turner, for guiding and shaping him into the man he became during a time of marginalization for Black people. His mother, Lue Helen, who was a classmate of Coretta Scott King, was just as influential in encouraging him to stand up against police brutality and discrimination.

“These are the men who made me proud and women who taught me to fight back,” he told Variety.

It is now expected that Howard Kazanjian, the producer of the original three Star Wars movies, will oversee the development stages.
