Bill Cosby has found himself back in the media for legal matters; but this time he’s the one doing the suing! According to NBC News, Bill recently filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Andrea Constand, one of his many accusers. Apparently her accusations led to one of his most recent arrests. He is now targeting Andrea, her mother, her lawyer and the publisher of the National Enquirer!
Reportedly, the above mentioned defendants were subject to confidentiality clauses covering the lawsuit settlements Andrea filed against Bill and the National Enquirer back in 2005.
Her accusations included Bill allegedly drugging and molesting her in his home in Philadelphia in 2004.
Although no actions were taken at the time of the complaint, the case was reopened in 2015 which ended in Bill’s December arrest –conveniently enough for her, just before the 12-year statute of limitations expired. During procedures, Andrea and her mother were interviewed and her lawyer handed over a number of files.
According to documents, the statute of limitations had expired on most of his other accusations; but he filed his lawsuit against Andrea just a day before his Feb. 2 court hearing. Andrea’s lawyer, Dolores Troiani mentioned then that Cosby had sued her by didn’t follow with much detail.
The plot twisted though when the judge warned Bill’s lawyer to refrain from accusing Dolores of breaking their confidentiality agreement via her testimony because she was subpoena’d to testify about her involvement.
NBC confirms that “Cosby is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the felony case on March 8,” and there’s a chance that if convicted he can face up to 10 years in prison.
