Bill Cosby’s defense lawyer has quit ahead of his second trial, which is scheduled to begin in November.
According to USA Today, Cosby’s publicist Andrew Wyatt confirmed that Brian McMonagle, a notable Philadelphia criminal defense attorney, quit Cosby’s defense team.
This news comes weeks after Cosby’s first trial ended in a mistrial.
A reason for why McMonagle has parted ways with the case has not been mentioned, and a new lawyer has not been named.
Wyatt said to USA Today, “It’s true and we’re still vetting lawyers that are on my short list. That person will be named later in the month.”
Cosby, who was convicted on three felony counts of aggravated assault against a former female employee at Temple University, reportedly has until August 21st to find a new lawyer.
The retrial is expected to start on November 6th.
