#TSRScholarz: Here’s some black boy joy for your timelines, #Roommates! Meet #IshmalePowell! Ishmale just graduated from Page High School In Greensboro, N.C., and is headed to UNC-Charlotte this Fall! Not only did Ishmale graduate two years early, he walked across the stage with a 4.5 GPA!
Ishmale is enrolled in UNC-Charlotte’s engineering program. He tells us that he is most excited to not only be a role model for his generation but also to experience life at a new level at only 15.
“Being the youngest in my class, some teachers and some of my peers looked down on me and didn’t believe I was ready yet,” he told us. “I excelled in my classes in order to prove them wrong. Not to mention, at times I would be the only African-American in the class.”
