It was recently announced that Black-ish will be returning to ABC for a fourth season, and now the spin-off show starring Yara Shahidi has been confirmed and has found a home on ABCs sister company.
According to Variety, the spin-off show entitled College-ish, which will be based on Shahidis character, Zoey Johnson’s college experience, has been picked up by Freeform. The show is expected to premiere in 2018 with a total of 13 episodes.
According to the synopsis of the show, College-ish is described as acontemporary take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education.
Shahidis Black-ish co-star, Deon Cole, will be reprising his role and the rest of the cast will be new actors and characters that are not a part of Black-ish.
The show will be executive produced by Black-ish creator, Kenya Barris, along with Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland, and Brian Dobbins.
Barris said, I never thought theyd let me put Black-ish on the air, let alone give me a spinoff. I couldnt be more excited for the opportunity to continue working with Yara and the rest of this talented young cast. To any aspiring writers struggling to make it out there, I highly advise adding an ish to any working title you might have. It seems to be the move.
Roommates, will you be tuned into the Black-ish spinoff College-ish?
