<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">#TSRWeGlobal: Let’s give it up for #MaryKeitany who blitzed the competition today at the #NYCMarathon.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Keitany, who hails from #Kenya, was victorious for the fourth time in five years! </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Keitany finished in 2 hours, 22 minutes and 48 seconds, which was more than three minutes ahead of the next closest runner, according to @<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/04/us/new-york-city-marathon-winner/index.html">CNN</a>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">#LelisaDesisa of #Ethiopia won the men’s division of the marathon, taking the title in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 59 seconds. Desisa previously won the #BostonMarathon in 2013 and in 2015.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The two beat out more than 50,000 runners who participated in the annual 26.2-mile marathon. The grand event takes more than 12,000 volunteers to organize and there are more than 2.5 million spectators who line the course, which travels through New York City’s five boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The race begins on Staten Island and comes to an end in Central Park. Last year, Geoffrey Kamworor of Kenya was victorious in the men’s division, and Shalane Flanagan of the United States won in the women’s division. Flanagan was actually the first American woman to win the race in more than 40 years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now in the wheelchair division, Daniel Romanchuk of the United States defeat the defending men’s champion, Marcel Hug of Switzerland, by a second! His time was one hour, 36 minutes and 21 seconds. Manuela Schar of Switzerland won the women’s race in the wheelchair division, making it her second victory in the event.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As far as Keitany making history, she joins Grete Waitz as the only women to witn the New York City Marathon four times. Waitz of Norway won the race nine times from 1978 to 1988.</span></p>
