Marisa Dick of St. Albert, Alberta is already rearranging wigs in the world of gymnastics!

This past October, the Trinidad native travelled all the way over to Glasgow, Scotland where she competed in the World Gymnastics Competition. First things first, she didn’t just compete, y’all. Marisa wowed all spectators and judges when she premiered her signature, never-before-seen move! The move, which was named after her, is a scissor kick-turned split onto a 4 ft. high balance beam and is etched in the FIG Code of Points. It’s the official rulebook for gymnastics that also defines scoring systems for each competition level. So, as you can see, this is a huge accomplishment on her part!

“It’s super cool to know that my name will kind of live on in the world of gymnastics,” she told CBC News, “It’s really exciting. It was one of my biggest goals going into worlds, to get this move named after myself.”Not to mention the physical labor she endured to be able to do the move! I can’t even do a push-up!

Marisa currently has her eyes set on the 2016 Olympics this summer should she qualify and wants to continue making history.

Happy Black history Month, Roommates!
