Brandy & Monica Both Speak On If They Would Battle Each Other On Instagram Live

Roommates, one of the few bright spots during this quarantine season is the joy that fans have received through the Instagram live battles of some of the greats of the music industry. Now, as fans continue to campaign for them to join in on the fun, both Brandy and Monica recently revealed whether or not they would be down to battle each other for the culture.

With the recent announcement that Erykah Badu and Jill Scott will head the first all-female musical Instagram battle, fans have been giving their opinions on which other R&B ladies should battle next. The overwhelming majority want to take it back to the 90s for a battle between Brandy and Monica.

During recent interviews, both ladies answered the question about going hit-for-hit on IGand it sounds like it probably wont be happening.

In an interview with Essence to promote her new single Baby Mama, Brandy answered the question saying that while its definitely not at the top of her list of things shes interested in doing right now, she stated Im open to it but I havent really thought about it. I dont know. Im open. Im open for sure. Im not closed-minded.

Meanwhile, Monica is even less thrilled about the idea. She recently had this to say on a local Atlanta radio station:

I guess I kind of feel like, I understand the idea of it and I think its really, really entertaining and an incredible idea. What I do like is its kind of turning into a celebration. I can handle a celebration. I think battles, one thing that has happened to me my whole career, is being put against someone else that Im not even remotely similar to. I think the reality is, us being polar opposites makes it dope. And I tell people all the time, because the only battle or Verzuz they want to see with me is me against Brandy, and the reality is, people have put us against each other for twentysomething years.

She continued, adding:

The reality is, I think Boy Is Mine is such a phenomenal record because were polar opposites. And I think thats dope. And shes one of the greatest artists of our time as well, so could we do a celebration or something of that sort? That would be the only thing that makes sense to me. Because Ive been trying to tell people for about 25 years, you can like both! Youre going to turn this into 1998 all over again and I have no interest in that.

Erykah Badu and Jill Scotts battle is set for May 12th.
