<p>In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, <strong>Britney Spears</strong> shares that — back during her three-year relationship with <strong>Justin Timberlake</strong> — she reportedly opted to have an abortion after becoming pregnant.</p>

<p>On Tuesday (Oct. 17), <a href="https://people.com/britney-spears-justin-timberlake-pregnancy-abortion-exclusive-8362622" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a> relayed that the superstar discussed the news in an advance copy of her book, <em>The Woman In Me</em>.</p>
<p>Britney Spears reportedly acknowledged that, while the pregnancy was a &#8220;surprise,&#8221; she didn&#8217;t see it as a &#8220;tragedy.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I&#8217;d anticipated.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Recalling Timberlake&#8217;s reaction to the development, though, Britney said he &#8220;definitely wasn&#8217;t happy.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;But Justin definitely wasn&#8217;t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Spears continued, sharing that she &#8220;never would have done it&#8221; if the situation &#8220;had been left up to [her] alone.&#8221; However, she penned that the &#8220;SexyBack&#8221; singer &#8220;was so sure that he didn&#8217;t want to be a father.&#8221;</p>
<p>She added, <strong><em>&#8220;To this day, it&#8217;s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p>While the outlet didn&#8217;t note the exact timeline, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/10/17/britney-spears-justin-timberlake-pregnant-abortion-memoir-book/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> reports that sources pinpoint the development as occurring in late 2000.</p>

<p>In addition to this revelation about her past abortion, Britney Spears reflected on the reality of living under her notorious conservatorship for over 13 years.</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://people.com/britney-spears-felt-like-child-robot-under-conservatorship-exclusive-8362488" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a>, she described the experience as turning her into &#8220;a sort of child-robot.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I became a robot. But not just a robot — a sort of child-robot. I had been so infantilized that I was losing pieces of what made me feel like myself.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
