Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) data from March showed that Los Angeles had its longest stretch of air quality rated as ‘good’ since 1995 amidst ‘Safer at Home’ orders given in response to the spread of COVID-19.
Roommates, as the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) recently updated its guidelines for mask-wearing for those who are vaccinated, many states have lowered their own guidelines in response—and California is the latest one that’s set to officially reopen. State legislators recently announced that in just a few weeks, California will drop all business capacity limits and also end social distancing requirements, as more residents get fully vaccinated.

Beginning June 15th, the state of California will officially lower capacity limits for businesses and put an end to the social distancing requirements that have been in place since the COVID-19 pandemic began early last year. California Health and Human Services Secretary Mark Ghaly, outlined the updated guidelines and confirmed that California has recorded fewer COVID-19 infections and almost half of the state’s population is fully vaccinated. This means that the state will return to the way it was before the pandemic.

However, it should be clear that for all California residents who are not vaccinated, the mask mandates will remain in place. In addition, a vaccine verification will be required to attend select large gatherings such as outdoor events like concerts and sports that have over 10,000 attendees.

California has devised a new system to verify vaccination status of a negative COVID-19 test result. If an individual wants to attend a large gathering, but is not vaccinated or refuses a COVID-19 test, a mask will be strongly recommended.

Additionally, for indoor California events, the capacity drops to 5,000 and again, if a person is not vaccinated and doesn’t want to test, a mask will be enforced.
