California Requires 19 Counties To Close Restaurants, Wineries, Museums, Movie Theaters And More Following Recent Spike In COVID-19 Cases

Roommates, California is now requiring restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums, family entertainment centers and card rooms to shut down.  Governor Newsom just announced that 19 counties in California must shut down operations of the establishments indefinitely after the state experienced alarming increases in COVID-19 cases.

As California (like multiple other states) continues to see a significant increase in positivity rates of COVID-19, state Governor Gavin Newsom is immediately requiring the following indoor businesses to close: restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums, family entertainment centers and card rooms. Meanwhile, bars in California must close completely.

This new mandate applies to all 19 counties that have been on the “county monitoring list” for three consecutive days, according to Governor Newsom in a recent announcement. The 19 counties on the list include, Los Angeles, Orange, Sacramento and Fresno.

Those counties represent approximately 70% of the state population. Residents will be required to follow this new guidance for the next three weeks, at which time state officials hope to see a decline in COVID-19 cases. Governor Newsom also noted that parking facilities at state beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area will also be closed during 4th of July weekend.

Earlier this week California saw 5,898 new diagnosed cases of COVID-19, as the state death toll in a 24 hour period climbed to 110.
