Sunday, a video surfaced that showed a homeless man, who is known on skid row as “Africa”, being wrestled to the ground by a group of Officers in Los Angeles. In the beginning of the video you can see that Africa and his female friend were resisting the Officer.
After a short struggle the police were able to get Africa on the floor. Africa continued to resist and one of the officers pulled out his taser and proceeded to use it on him.
About two seconds after the police tazed Africa, one of the officers pulled out a gun and shot him, ultimately killing him.
Let the LAPD tell it, they were justified. In fact, the LAPD Chief Charlie Beck is already making excuses for the officers’ actions. He claims that Africa was shot because he forcefully grabbed one of the officer’s holstered gun. He also stated that the taser was ineffective.
Since then, social media is slowly starting to catch on to the story and people are outraged by it.
Mogul Russell Simmons even posted a clip of the video on his instagram account.
