#Roommates, the heart-breaking death of Chadwick Boseman still has his fans and loved ones understandably grief-stricken. As many reflect on his very impressive career, a new report reveals that he was attempting to reprise his most famous role as TChalla in the Black Panther sequel just a week before he sadly passed away from colon cancer.
According to @Hollywood Reporter, up until only a week before his passing, Chadwick Boseman was convinced that he was going to beat colon cancer and be able to gain the weight back he needed in order to film the sequel to the record-breaking film Black Panther. The sequel to the 2018 Academy Award-winning film, was set to go into production in March 2020and Chadwick was even scheduled tobegin preparing for the film beginning this month.
Now, Disney is scrambling and completely uncertain on if or how it should proceed with the planned sequel. Chadwick Boseman is the central character of the film and it would make no sense to have it without himand the studio could recast, but fans are very attached to Chadwick in the role and placing another actor in the role of TChalla likely wont be received well.
Black Panther is a billion-dollar film franchise that now finds itself without its star. Additionally, Chadwicks death also impacts the entire Marvel film universe, given that the Black Panther character was scheduled to appear in other interconnected films, just as Chadwick already had done in 2016s Captain America: Civil War, 2018s Avengers: Infinity War and last years all-time top box office grosser, Avengers: Endgame.
Disney sources say the company is processing its grief and focusing on paying tribute to Chadwick instead of a Black Panther sequel at the moment.
Only a handful of non-family members knew that he was sick, including producing partnerLogan Coles, longtime agent Michael Greene, trainer Addison Henderson and 42 director Brian Helgeland with varying degrees of knowledge about the severity of the actors condition.
