Chance The Rapper continues to put on for his city and push forward in his efforts to better the public school system in Chicago.

Recently the rapper hosted a Social Works summit in Chicago to announce that he has raised $2.2 million for Chicago Public Schools since starting his New Chance Fund back in June.

According to The Fader, for the next three years, Chance will be donating $100,000 to arts and education programs within 20 of the Chicago Public Schools. The schools that were chosen for the donations were selected on a need-based factor, as well as the principal’s commitments to better the programs.

Chance said, “Funding for public schools is the single most important investment a community can make. As a parent and proud product of CPS, I’m committed to helping Chicago’s children have quality learning experiences that include the arts. Over the past month, I’ve crisscrossed the city, from Chatham to Chinatown, Humboldt Park to Hyde Park, visiting students and one thing is clear: If we invest in Chicago’s children, we’ll change the world.”

During the summit, Chance also announced The Twilight Awards, which will honor “teachers, parents, principals, and students that convey leadership.”

The ceremony will take place in June of 2018 and will be hosted by James Corden.
