<p>Earlier this year Nate Parker made headlines as he received outstanding reviews for his film &#8220;A Birth of a Nation&#8221;, which is about Nat Turner&#8217;s 1831 slave rebellion.</p>
<p>Back in January the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival setting records as Fox Searchlight&#8217;s Studio paid a total of $17.5 million for the films distribution rights.</p>
<p>Nate Parker, the writer, director and star of the film talked about his motivation behind the film. He said, &#8220;Far too often, as a black actor&#8230;you receive a hundred scripts in a year, and two of them you feel represent the experience of the black male with strength and power and integrity.&#8221;</p>
<p>He continued, &#8220;And I felt the need to, instead of complaining about that, to find a way to change it with my art. So I started writing. I wrote several scripts, but Nat Turner and his life was one that I wanted to really delve into as a writer.&#8221;</p>
<p>There is no doubt that this film is highly anticipated and it will finally hit theaters on October 7th.</p>
