<p>A judge has ruled that <strong>James Weems Jr.</strong>, a former Baltimore police officer accused of sexually abusing kids at his wife&#8217;s day care facility, can await his trial from home. Meanwhile, <strong>Shanteari Weems</strong> is serving a 4-year sentence for confronting and shooting her husband over the allegations.</p>

<p>According to <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/baltimore/news/man-accused-of-sex-abuse-at-wifes-baltimore-county-daycare-can-be-released-on-home-detention-judge-rules/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS News Baltimore</a>, the ruling arrived on Tuesday (Oct. 3). The former officer, accused of molesting at least three children under his wife&#8217;s care, was placed on &#8220;Level 3 Home Detention.&#8221; Naturally, he isn&#8217;t allowed to have contact with any children, witnesses, or victims from his case.</p>
<p>Per <a href="https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/criminal-justice/james-weems-jr-sex-abuse-lil-kidz-kastle-daycare-center-home-detention-OC4ZECQ33NFZNGKYKJFRXNK67A/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Baltimore Banner</a>, Judge <strong>Nancy M. Purpura</strong> declared that Weems could stay with a friend who served with him in the U.S. Marine Corps. Additionally, he&#8217;s reportedly only allowed to leave the residence to attend medical appointments or see his lawyer.</p>

<p>James Weems Jr.&#8217;s trial is set to begin on May 6, 2024.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Shanteari Weems Says She &#8220;Snapped&#8221; &; &#8220;Was In A Daze&#8221; Before Shooting James Weems Jr.</h3>

She was arrested that day, and authorities <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/shanteari-weems-husband-on-child-charges-for-allegedly-molesting-children-at-her-day-care-facility-update/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took James into custody</a> on child sex abuse charges less than a week later.</p>
<p>People have called for Shanteari Weems&#8217; release, though she ultimately <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/day-care-owner-pleads-guilty-to-husband-of-child-molestation/?_gl=1*3cl02y*_up*MQ..*_ga*NDczMTA1LjE2OTY1MjA2OTk.*_ga_V2HX8YP3XL*MTY5NjUyMDY5Ny4xLjEuMTY5NjUyMDcwNC4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">pleaded guilty</a> to aggravated assault and carrying an unlicensed firearm in November 2022. After being <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/baltimore-woman-sentenced-48-months-prison-shooting-her-husband-dc-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sentenced</a> to 48 months behind bars in February 2023, she declared that she &#8220;snapped&#8221; and is &#8220;not a violent person.&#8221;</p>
