Dr. Dre’s week got off on the wrong foot when he was handcuffed in front of his Malibu home on Monday.
If you guys can remember, we reported about a motorcyclist blocking his driveway, and in an attempt to get the driver to move he pulled out his phone to record the incident. The guy demanded a citizen’s arrest claiming that Dr. Dre pulled out a gun on him.
Fast-forward to now, TMZ is reporting that the D.A has rejected the gun case, as there was no gun found at the scene. The super producer was briefly detained and given a citation for a court appearance.
With all that has been going on within this country, the incident sparked the discussion of racism.
N.W.A.’s former manger Jerry Heller identified the incident as a race issue. He told TMZ, “As you know, professionally I’m a big Dr. Dre fan. Personally, I’m not such a big Dr. Dre fan but I think this was all bulls**t. I wasn’t there but it just sounds like all bulls***t to me. What did he do? He was trying to leave his house [and] the guy had his driveway blocked. You would have done the same thing. Without knowing all the facts it seems to me it was a racial issue.”
Next time they need to put some R-E-S-P-E-C-T on Dre’s name.
