<p>Congratulations are in order!<strong> Da Brat</strong> is expecting with <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/da-brat-becomes-emotional-after-thanking-her-boo-for-surprising-her-with-a-new-car-for-her-birthday/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">her wife</a> <strong>Jesseca Harris-Dupart</strong>. The rapper debuted her baby bump in a gangsta-inspired maternity shoot <a href="https://people.com/parents/da-brat-reveals-pregnancy-at-48-exclusive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exclusively released</a> by <em>People </em>magazine. Da Brat opened up about becoming a mother at age 48 and deciding to expand their blended family.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I never thought I was going to have kids,&#8221; Brat said. &#8220;I just thought it wasn&#8217;t in the cards for me. I&#8217;ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn&#8217;t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn&#8217;t going to happen for me.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>Though Da Brat is already stepparent to Jesseca&#8217;s three children, this will be her first child. The couple started planning to expand about a year ago after getting married in February. Brat says their love made her look at life differently&#8211;and brought on the desire to share a child.</p>
<p>The initial conversations about a new baby started as a joke, Jesseca says, but once the idea settled, they were all in and ready to get the bun baking!</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Da Brat Reveals Medical Complications And Miscarriage Before Her Pregnancy</h3>
<p>According to <em>People, </em>Da Brat is 18 weeks pregnant. The couple used an anonymous donor, described only as an<em> &#8220;eager entrepreneur&#8221;</em> by the magazine. The rapper describes her journey so far as exciting, exhausting, and emotional but a &#8220;blessing&#8221; above all else. Pregnancy has made her sleepy, but she has no nausea or cravings, she tells <em>People.</em></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Everything makes me cry. If someone is <em>American Idol, </em>I cry.&#8221; I&#8217;m like, I&#8217;m tougher than that,&#8221; Brat said.</p></blockquote>
<p>At first, the artist said she was not loving the thought of giving birth, saying,<em> &#8220;nothing&#8217;s gonna come out of me,&#8221;</em> but Jesseca encouraged her to get <em>&#8220;the experience.&#8221; </em>They settled on Brat carrying their child, but both women suffered complications&#8211;Judy during the egg retrieval process and Brat before the embryo transfer procedure.</p>
<p>The rapper had surgery to remove fibroids and polyps before the transfer. Then, during their first try, she suffered a miscarriage.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I feel in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me,&#8221; Da Brat said.</p></blockquote>
<p>But the couple had a few eggs left and decided to try again. The <em>Ghetto Love </em>artist is in her second trimester and is excited to share their happy news with fans.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think people are going to be shocked,&#8221; the mother-to-be said.</p></blockquote>
<p>The news is still gaining legs on social media. And as Brat predicted, shock seems to be the common reaction in conversations bubbling on Twitter.</p>

Within an hour of being posted, the photo collected over 202,000 likes and more than 18,000 comments from their collective following of six million plus.</p>
