A man, who threw a banana peel at Dave Chappelle during one of his shows back in 2015, is suing him as well as another man assumed to be Chappelle’s bodyguard.
According to Billboard, Christian Englander filed a lawsuit on Friday claiming that the man assumed to be Chappelle’s bodyguard, struck him twice as he was being restrained.
Englander, who is a white male, said there was no racial motivation behind him throwing the banana peel at Chappelle. Instead, he said he did it because he was upset with something Chappelle said during his show.
At the time of the incident, Englander faced charges of battery and disturbing the peace, but they were later dropped because Chappelle decided not to participate in the prosecution.
Englander never mentioned the alleged assault in the police report, but his attorney claims that it would have been mentioned if Englander went to trial.
At the moment, no one from Chappelle’s team has released a comment about the situation.
